Endorsing CONSORT can improve the quality of research reports.

Endorse CONSORT

Why endorse the CONSORT Statement?

Developing a reporting guideline is a long and complex process involving many people. Although the CONSORT Statement has been endorsed by many journals, influential editorial groups, such as the World Association of Medical Journals, and translated into several languages, there is still much work to be done in terms of obtaining additional endorsements.

Several investigations have evaluated whether the CONSORT Statement improves the quality of reports of randomized controlled trials. These evaluations have been summarized in a recently published systematic review(50). The results of the review suggest that the use of the CONSORT Statement is associated with improved reporting of RCTs.

We believe that this kind of evidence is just the sort of information journals, editorial groups, and individuals need to help them decide upon whether to endorse the CONSORT Statement. If you would like to support the CONSORT Group, one of the best ways is to endorse the CONSORT Statement.
