A systematic review synthesizing evidence from studies evaluating the impact of the 1996 and 2001 CONSORT checklists on the completeness of reporting in published trials was published in the Cochrane Library, available here.
The main comparisons of the review demonstrate that trials published in journals that endorse CONSORT are significantly more completely reported for several key CONSORT items than those published in non-endorsing journals or prior to endorsement in a given journal.
An open-access executive summary of the review is anticipated to be published in Systematic Reviews in the coming weeks. Please check back here for more information.
